This bathing, tanning and climbing centre is located along The Hudson River. Despite its apparent openness, privacy is obtained where needed due to total-internal-reflection. Light rays enter the structure freely. However, a lateral observer is only able to view the internally reflected light coming from above, and not the emerging light from the private areas below.
Scaled sections of manipulated material studies gave way to point-of-view analyses and sequence permutations. Coupled with a survey of nearby decaying structures, the centre’s final form is derived.
