City Yarn - Toronto

This map represents the City of Toronto’s major streets as a grid of interwoven strings of yarn. Each neighbourhood in Toronto has a rich history and distinct stories. From moments of tension and relaxation, together they form a binding tapestry.

Moreover, the seemingly strict Cartesian grid one expects from the city gives way due to the natural features of Toronto, the whimsical webbing and the lightness of the material.

The prominent green cord that intersects and weaves through the city was inserted as part of the Evergreen Brick Works MOVE: Transportation Expo. It represents the Parkway of Least Resistance, a re-imagining of the Don Valley Parkway as a part of the public transit network, as well as public park.
