Michael Maltzan - Playa Vista Central Park

Following my second year of Graduate Studies, I took a year off and drove to Los Angeles. There, I worked at Michael Maltzan's innovative practice at the foot of Griffith's Park.

As a central feature for a new development on the west side of Los Angeles, the Playa Vista Central Park provides the public with a variety of possibilities: a Bento box of leisure. Each land-bridge becomes a new venue of exploration and activity. They offer different perspectives and unique experiences to its users.

The project won an American Institute of Architects California Council Merit Award as well as an AIA NEXT LA award with the jurors commenting that “this park brings provocative design thinking to an environment that needs it.”
It has also been published in various magazines worldwide, including Architectural Record.
